Wellingtons aiding holiday toy drive for needy kids

When: July 15, 2012
03:00 PM to 09:00 PM

Description: Donations of new unwrapped toys to be given to needy children at Christmas will be rewarded with a chance to win a pair of tickets valued at $350 to watch the Oakland A’s take on the Cleveland Indians in Oakland on Sunday, Aug. 19th. Wellington’s Pub & Restaurant is sponsoring the drawing in an effort to help jump start a Christmas in July toy drive by Turlock Together and the Salvation Army of Turlock to replenish a nearly empty toy box from which they assemble food and gift baskets that are given annually to some 2,000 needy families from throughout the community. Monetary contributions also are welcome. The lucky winner of the drawing for tickets to that Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. game will be seated in adjoining VIP Diamond level seats directly behind home plate three rows from the field. The tickets also come with private parking privileges in a lot reserved for use by other Diamond level spectators and many players and team officials in the shadow of the stadium. The winner and his or her guest will be able to gorge themselves on their favorite ballpark snacks and other food items listed on a special game-day menu at no cost. Coffee, tea, water and soft-drinks also are free and the drawing winners will receive two tickets each for free bottles of wine or beer. Toys and monetary donations may be dropped off at Wellington’s at 10 E. Main St. in downtown Turlock through July 31. Donations will be accepted between 3-9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. The drawing will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Participants need not be present to win. Contributors who are not interested in participating in the drawing made are encouraged to drop off toys and donations at any Turlock fire station or at the Salvation Army’s Turlock facility on Lander Avenue. Only donations made in person at Wellingtons will receive tickets for the drawing. --30-- For additional information please contact: Dorothy Walker 668-8729 or 403-2202
